The Plant-Based All Natural Laundry Detergent You Need

It has been about 7 years now since I have started using a non-traditional laundry detergent and I absolutely love it. My go-to all natural laundry detergent is Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent. It comes in multiple different scents and sizes for all different needs, from single households to large families. And as I continue my search for products that are truly planet and eco-friendly the Seventh Generation brand continues to pop up.

Seventh Generation is a company dedicated to a green, sustainable and equitable product line throughout all of their products. Their products are primarily plant-based, rather than plastic-based. This is a crucial step in making products that are used in green living.

Seventh Generation has a range of products including chlorine, bleach-free pads, dishwasher and laundry detergent, and household cleaners.

Now, you might be concerned about the price. You might think that a clean, plant-derived laundry detergent would be outrageously expensive (because, let's face it, in this current climate, being eco-friendly is not easy on the wallet) however, when you do the math it ends up coming up as actually slightly cheaper than the typical brand-name laundry detergent pods or powder such as Tide. At a typical price point of $11.99 for a average load quantity of 66 loads per container that breaks down to just over $0.18 per load. If you compare that to Tide, which averages 11.99 for a container with only 64 loads, breaking down to just under $0.19 per load. That doesn't seem like much, but when you factor in the knowledge of how the detergent is made, what the company behind it stands for and how much of a difference the chemicals can have on the environment (and even on your skin!) there is a lot more at stake than half a penny.

Another benefit to switching to Seventh Generation laundry detergent is the choice of scents. Many people have sensitive skin, either to the chemicals used in traditional detergents for the cleaning portion or for the fragrance. Seventh Generation comes in Lavender, Citrus, and Free and Clear. They also have a Ultra Power Plus option for those of you who feel better having something with an extra push for clean. And remember, all of this is 97% derived from plants. Even the packaging is either recycled or made from plants. 80% of the plastic is recycled and the remaining 20% is derived from sugarcane.

Seventh Generation is focused on environmentally friendly packaging as well as eco-friendly products.

Personally, my favorite scent is Lavender but I have also tried the Citrus and Free and Clear as well as the Ultra Power Plus. None of these products have done anything but impressed me with the fragrance, cleanliness, and care that went into the making of the detergent. Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent truly is one of my favorite eco-friendly products and in my opinion, one of the easiest, most reasonable first steps towards a cleaner lifestyle. The detergent can be found at most natural grocery stores, Target, and Walmart.

Many of the scents of Seventh Generation laundry detergent also come in larger sizes for families.
